Wetaskiwin RCMP Execute Search Warrant; Seized Stolen Property with an Approximate Value of over $100,000

Wetaskiwin, Alberta – On September 17th, 2021 Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with assistance of members from Wetaskiwin RCMP, Maskwacis RCMP, and the K-Division RCMP Auto theft unit, executed a search warrant on a rural Wetaskiwin County property. The RCMP were conducting an investigation into a suspected chop shop on the property. Following the search, 5 stolen trucks, an enclosed trailer, an industrial generator unit, 3 dirt bikes, as well as other stolen property were recovered, with an approximate value of over $100,000.

As a result of the investigation, the following charges have been laid against one male:

Chris Andrew Gilchrist (31) of Wetaskiwin, AB is charged with:

· Possession for Stolen Property over $5000 (x6)

· Possession for Stolen Property under $5000 (x5)

· Alter/Destroy/Remove a Vehicle Identification Number

Gilchrist was brought before a justice of the peace and was released on a $2000.00 promise to pay release order and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on October 12th, 2021.
