Arrest made in connection to violent, unprovoked attack of man: Edmonton Police

Edmonton, Alberta – Downtown Division patrol members have arrested and charged a 41-year-old male in connection to the unprovoked, random stabbing of an Edmonton man out with his family last Friday.

At approximately 7:10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17, 2021, a male complainant was out for a peaceful walk with his wife and daughter in the area of 118 Street and 100 Avenue.

As they were walking down the sidewalk, a male suspect allegedly jumped out of the bushes and began screaming at the family, then without provocation stabbed the complainant in the back, before fleeing the scene on foot.

Paramedics treated and transported the male to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Downtown Division members were able to quickly identify the suspect as Travis Shane Morgan, 41, of Edmonton. EPS patrol members undertook extensive searches for the suspect throughout the area and river valley for several hours that evening.

Morgan, a violent offender wanted on 28 warrants for various assault and property-related crimes, was successfully located and taken into custody Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, at approximately 6:30 p.m., on 118 Street.

He is facing numerous charges including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and a breach of condition.
