St. Paul RCMP lay charges in sexual assault investigation; “allegedly occurred during a massage therapy appointment”

St. Paul, Alberta – On June 4, 2021, St. Paul RCMP received a complaint of a sexual assault by a massage therapist which allegedly occurred during a massage appointment. On June 8, 2021, a second victim came forward with allegations of sexual assault which also allegedly occurred during a massage therapy appointment.

Following an investigation, St. Paul RCMP have charged Layne Whelen (23) of St. Paul with two counts of sexual assault.

Whelen has been released with conditions and is next scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial court on Nov. 18, 2021.

St. Paul Victim Services have been engaged and have been in touch with the victims.

RCMP believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone affected to come forward.
