Innisfail RCMP arrest suspect in stolen vehicle and locate loaded hand gun

Penhold, Alberta – On Sept. 23, 2021 at 9:02 a.m., Innisfail RCMP received a report from concerned citizens of a suspicious vehicle in the Hawkridge area in Penhold, Alta. Witnesses informed the RCMP that a male had been sleeping in the vehicle since the early morning hours and that the vehicle was still running. Innisfail RCMP attended the location and investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen from Okotoks, Alta.

Innisfail RCMP arrested the lone male subject after making entrance into the vehicle. A search of the subject resulted in Innisfail RCMP members locating a loaded 9MM Glock 17 handgun, additional rounds of 9mm ammo as well as illegal drugs including methamphetamine and fentanyl on his person. In addition, a number of break-in tools were located in the vehicle.

Trevor Norman Legge, a 39-year-old male from Central Alberta, has been charged with:

· Possession of property obtained by crime

· Possession of a restricted firearm

· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

· Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized

· Carrying a concealed weapon

· Possession of a weapon contrary to an order to surrender

· Possession of a controlled substance X 2

· Possession of break in tools

· Resist arrest

· Fail to comply with release order conditions x 3

Legge was also charged with a number of Traffic Safety Act offences

At the time of his arrest, Legge was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Drumheller, Alta and on a Canada Wide Apprehension Order. After a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Legge was remanded to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Sept 24, 2021.
