Winnipeg, Manitoba – The Winnipeg Police Service’s Guns & Gangs Unit entered into a firearms and drugs investigation.
On October 6, 2021, at approximately 11:00 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a taxicab in the area of Stafford Street and Warsaw Avenue. An adult male was taken into custody, and the following items were seized:
– a Glock 17, 9mm handgun with obliterated serial number
– extended magazine full of compatible ammunition
– 1 ounce of fentanyl (estimated street value $3,000)
– 1 ounce of cocaine (estimated street value $1,500)
– 1 ounce of methamphetamine (estimated street value $600)
– 4.8 grams of crack cocaine (estimated street value $480)
– 500 x 5 gram Percocet pills (estimated street value $10,000)
– drug paraphernalia
– $2,990 in Canadian currency
– identity documents
Samy YEBEYO, 19, of Calgary, Alberta, was charged with the following 21 offences and an outstanding warrant:
– Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
– Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
– Possession of a Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order
– Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
– Tampering with Serial Number of a Firearm
– Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
– Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
– Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 4
– Fraud Under $5,000
– Possession of a Forged Document with Intent x 3
– Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 6
– Warrant: Fail to Comply Undertaking x3, Fail to Comply Sentence x 2
He was detained in custody.
