Blackfalds RCMP reporting airplane crash with one survivor and one fatality

Blackfalds, Alberta – On October 9, 2021, at approximately 4:45 pm, the Blackfalds RCMP responded to a distress beacon from an aircraft. A downed plane was located in a remote and rural area, near the intersection of Range Road 241 and Township Road 412.

There were two occupants of the small plane. The male pilot was located deceased at the scene. The male passenger was extracted from the wreckage and transported to an Edmonton area hospital with serious injuries. The identities of both individuals are not being released at this time due to the Next of Kin notification.

Transport Canada are currently investigating the plane crash, and it is ongoing.
