Ponoka RCMP respond to a Robbery with a Weapon Complaint; “Two males entered the residence and assaulted the occupant of the residence with a baseball bat”

Ponoka, Alberta – On October 9, 2021, at approximately 9:40 AM, the Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of robbery at a residence in Ponoka. Two males entered the residence and assaulted the occupant of the residence with a baseball bat. The suspects stole a small amount of money, along with some electronics equipment. The victim was able to flee the residence and go to a neighbor’s house and call 911. The two male suspects then fled the residence in a small SUV.

The suspects were located at a residence on the Montana first nation. The suspects were taken into custody without incident. Both individuals are currently in custody and awaiting court appearances.

Connor Saddleback (27) has been charged with:

· Section 344 Criminal Code or Robbery with a weapon

· Section 267(a) Criminal Code or Assault with a weapon

· Four counts of Section 733.1(1) Criminal Code or Fail to comply with a Probation Order

Junior Rain (21), has been charged with:

· Section 344 Criminal Code or Robbery with a weapon

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
