Valleyview RCMP Investigating Hit and Run Pedestrian Collision on Alberta Highway 43 – UPDATED

Valleyview, Alberta – The Valleyview RCMP continue to investigate a hit and run that occurred on Oct. 9, 2021, on Highway 43, 2 kilometers west of Range Road 230.

The pedestrian was struck in the westbound lanes of Highway 43. The victim, a 20 year-old female, was discovered in the ditch by passersby. The collision occurred between the hours of 5:00 – 7:30 a.m. The 25-year-old female of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation who was injured as a result of this hit and run collision remains in hospital in critical condition.

RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating witnesses who may have seen the collision or a female walking on Highway 43 near Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation between the hours of 5 a.m., and 7:30 a.m., on Oct. 9, 2021.

BACKGROUND

The pedestrian was struck in the westbound lanes of Highway 43. The victim, a 20 year-old female, was discovered in the ditch by passersby. The collision occurred between the hours of 5:00 – 7:30 AM.

The victim was transported by STARS air ambulance to an Edmonton area hospital in critical condition.

The Valleyview RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in finding the subject(s) responsible for this hit and run, or potential witnesses to the collision.
