Airdrie RCMP participates in Operation Impact, Releases Results

Airdrie, Alberta – As part of Operation Impact 2021, Airdrie RCMP, in partnership with Alberta Sheriffs, conducted several Alberta Check Stops this past week-end throughout the City of Airdrie.

Over 600 vehicles were checked, with all drivers providing a mandatory breath sample. This resulted in the following suspensions being issued:

· 4 IRS: FAIL

· 3 IRS: WARN

· 2 IRS: ZERO NOVICE

There was also one suspended driver, a warrant executed, and several violation tickets issued. There were many drivers who provided breath samples showing that they had consumed alcohol, yet not a high enough result to be issued a suspension.

Operation Impact is a public awareness campaign set to take place over Thanksgiving weekend. It focuses on education and enforcement of impaired driving due to alcohol, drugs and fatigue, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and the use of seat belts and child car seats. This year’s theme was: Be a hero. Aim for zero.
