Sylvan Lake RCMP charge Red Deer male with impaired driving following multiple 911 calls

Sylvan Lake, Alberta – On Oct. 20, 2021 at approximately 5:00 p.m., Sylvan Lake RCMP responded to multiple reports of a possible impaired driver within the Town of Sylvan Lake.

Police received information that the male driver was allegedly driving on sidewalks, and driving in the wrong lane. The suspect vehicle was also believed to be involved in a previous flight from police in Red Deer, Alta. earlier in the day.

Sylvan Lake RCMP with the assistance of the Sylvan Lake General Investigation Section, Blackfalds Integrated Traffic Unit, RCMP Police Dog Services and the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team, located the suspect vehicle just north of the Town of Sylvan Lake on Highway 20.

Aaron Neil Bodnard (33) of Red Deer was charged with the following offences:

· Flight from police

· Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited

· Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

· Resist police officer

· Impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug

· Mischief over $5,000

Following a judicial hearing Bodnard was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial court on Nov.2, 2021.
