Grande Prairie RCMP on Scene at Serious Collision, Traffic being diverted – UPDATED

Grande Prairie, Alberta – At approximately 11:00 a.m. today, Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Township Road 714 and Range Road 53.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a pickup truck travelling southbound on Range Road 53 failed to stop at Township Road 714 stop sign, colliding with an eastbound pickup truck. The driver of the southbound pickup truck, an adult male, was taken to hospital with serious life threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the eastbound pickup truck, an adult female and a male youth, were taken to hospital with serious non life threatening injuries.

Emergency crews have cleared from the area. Grande Prairie RCMP, along with the assistance of the RCMP Collision Reconstructionist, are continuing their investigation into the cause of the collision. No further updates are anticipated.

Traffic is being diverted at the following intersections:

· Range Road 53 North of Township Road 712

· Range Road 53 South of Highway 670

· Township Road 714 West of Range Road 53A

· Township Road 714 East of Range Road 52
