Lethbridge Police seize firearm, drugs in traffic stop

Lethbridge, Alberta – A traffic stop by Lethbridge Police on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021 resulted in the seizure of a firearm, a small amount of drugs and the arrest of two individuals.

Police conducted the traffic stop on a vehicle in the 4000-block of 4 Avenue South just before 2 a.m. Upon inspection of the vehicle they seized a rifle, a replica airsoft pistol, bear spray and a small quantity of cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine. One of the occupants of the vehicle, who provided police with a false name, was the subject of a Canada-wide parole warrant as well as a firearms prohibition.

Justin Yuhas, 32, of Lethbridge, has been charged with: two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm; careless use/storage of a firearm; knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm; carrying a concealed weapon; knowingly possessing a prohibited/restricted weapon; and two counts of possession of a controlled substance; and obstructing a peace officer. He is in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.

Travis Robert Taylor, 30, of Lethbridge, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was released from custody with a scheduled court appearance for Jan. 27, 2022.
