Armed wanted man arrested in Langford, B.C., handgun seized

Langford, BC – West Shore RCMP arrested a man wanted on warrants Thursday morning after receiving a complaint about this individual’s suspicious behaviour.

At approximately 7:45 A.M. on November 4th, West Shore RCMP received a report of male that appeared under the influence of drugs in the parking lot of an apartment complex situated at 1085 Goldstream Ave, in Langford, BC.

A member of the West Shore RCMP Uniform Gang Task Force was in the area and located the man whom he recognized and was aware that he had outstanding warrants for his arrest.

“During the course of the arrest, the officer observed and located a black handgun in the suspect’s waistband”, says Cst. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP. The handgun was later determined to be stolen.

The suspect, 31 year-old Joshua Lafleur who is well known to police, was transported to West Shore RCMP cells where he was processed to be dealt with accordingly. A detailed report was forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service who has approved the following charges:

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (Sec. 88(1) Criminal Code);

Carrying a concealed weapon (Sec 90(1) Criminal Code);

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (Section 92(1) Criminal Code);

Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (Sec. 95(a) Criminal Code).

Lafleur has since been remanded and is expected to appear in court again on November 9th 2021.
