Parkland RCMP investigate serious collision at the intersection of Alberta Highway 633 and Highway 779

Parkland County, Alberta – On Nov. 7, 2021 at approximately 3:37 p.m., Parkland RCMP responded to a three vehicle collision with serious injuries at the intersection of Highway 633 and Highway 779.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an SUV was travelling westbound on Highway 633 and failed to stop at the four-way stop intersection. As a result, the SUV collided with a southbound pick-up truck and another pick-up at the intersection.

The force of the collision sent one of the trucks rolling into the adjacent field. The SUV broke apart into two pieces with the driver still secure in the driver’s seat as a result of using her seatbelt. The rear part of the SUV ended up in another part of the adjacent field.

The 37-year-old female driver of the SUV from Edmonton, Alta. was taken to hospital by STARS air ambulance with serious injuries. The two truck drivers, a 27-year-old male from Edmonton and a 41-year old male from Sturgeon County, Alta. were both assessed and released on scene with minor injuries.

The RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene. The intersection was closed over the duration of the investigation.

Parkland RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
