Earlier this month members of the Crime Suppression Team initiated an investigation in response to ongoing community concerns about drug trafficking by tenants at the Super Lodge hotel along the 2200 block of 7 Avenue South. During the investigation officers observed drug trafficking activity occurring from a specific room and on Nov. 18, 2021 a warrant was obtained and executed. Three people were arrested without incident. In addition, a targeted traffic stop was conducted in relation to a vehicle associated with the room and three additional subjects were taken into custody. A search of the room resulted in the seizure of a revolver style pellet gun, rifle style pellet gun, body armour and a small quantity of fentanyl. During a search of the vehicle occupants subsequent to arrest, one male was found in possession of bear spray. A large machete was also found on the floor of the vehicle.

Rodney Kesley Bottle, 39, of Lethbridge, is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and knowingly possessing a prohibited weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court January 12, 2022. Bottle is prohibited from attending the Super Lodge and possessing any weapons.
