RCMP respond to serious multi-vehicle collision on Highway 2 northbound near 722 Avenue, in Foothills County

Foothills County, Alberta – On Nov. 18, 2021, at approximately 12:45 p.m., Foothills County RCMP responded to a serious collision involving two vehicles on Highway 2 northbound near 722 Avenue, in Foothills County.

Members from High River, Turner Valley and Okotoks Detachments also attended the scene, along with local fire services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

A 4-door car and a pick-up truck pulling a cargo trailer were northbound when the collision occurred.

The 77-year-old male driver of the pick-up truck from Parkland County, was transported by STARS with serious but non-life threatening injuries to a Calgary Hospital. The 67-year-old female passenger of the pick up was taken by EMS to a local area hospital with what were described as minor injuries.

The lone male occupant of the car involved was picked up by a passing motorist in a white vehicle and fled from the scene.

Traffic from Highway 2 at 722 Avenue E was diverted for approximately 8 hours to allow for investigation into the collision.

The RCMP Collision Analyst attended along with the Criminal Collision Investigative Team (CCIT) who assisted with the investigation.

Foothills County RCMP are seeking to identify any witnesses to the collision and are asking if you witnessed the collision, including those who were spoken with at the scene by police, to please contact Cst. Rob Rogers at Okotoks RCMP Detachment, 403- 995-6400.
