Portage la Prairie RCMP respond to fatal snowmobile collision

Portage la Prairie, Manitoba – On November 21, 2021, at 1:10 pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of an unknown male lying in the field behind their property, located on Saskatchewan Avenue East, in Portage la Prairie.

Officers attended to the scene and have determined that a snowmobile, being operated by a 57-year-old male from Portage la Prairie, had been traveling northbound through a field when it drove into a row of trees. The male struck numerous large branches and fell off the machine a short distance away. EMS attended the scene and pronounced the male deceased.

The male was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision.
