UPDATE: Alberta Highway 40 fully reopens following RV fire in Bighorn County

Bighorn County, Alberta – Cochrane RCMP advise that Highway 40 has now fully re-opened.

Shortly prior to 9 a.m. on Nov. 23, 2021 Cochrane RCMP responded to the call of the structure fire.

The structure involved in the fire was a fifth wheel recreational vehicle that was parked on a commercial property approximately four kilometers west of Waiparous.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

BACKGROUND

Bighorn County, Alta. – Cochrane RCMP advise that one lane of traffic with alternating traffic flow has re-opened on Highway 40.

Motorists should expect traffic delays when in the area.

Bighorn County, Alberta – Cochrane RCMP have responded to a report of a structure fire on Highway 40 approximately 4 kilometers west of Waiparous Village, Alta.

Fire Services have also responded.

Currently Highway 40 in the area is closed to allow Fires Services to combat the blaze.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and to be aware of emergency personnel on the highway who will be directing and diverting traffic.
