Leduc RCMP investigate fatal collision on QEII

Leduc, Alberta – On Nov. 26, 2021, at 2:24 p.m., Leduc RCMP received a 911 call of a single vehicle having gone off road on the QEII in the northbound lane into the median approximately 100 metres north of the 50 avenue overpass.

Leduc RCMP, along with emergency services, attended the scene and the 21-year-old male driver and lone occupant from Crossfield, Alta., of the SUV involved in this collision was declared deceased on scene. The name of the deceased will not be released.

Preliminary investigation indicates the SUV was observed to have been heading northbound on the QEII highway and swerved into the right shoulder. The SUV then crossed the northbound lane, struck the median wire and rolled several times, coming to rest upside down in the median ditch.

Traffic on the QEII was affected for a lengthy period of time while this collision was investigated and then cleared.

Leduc RCMP, along with an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist, are investigating the cause of the collision.

No further updates are anticipated.
