Cocaine, methamphetamine seized, after traffic stop of stolen ATV

Onion Lake, Saskatchewan – On November 29, 2021, officers from the Onion Lake RCMP conducted a traffic stop on ­­­­­an ATV which had been previously reported as stolen.

During the stop, the adult male operator of the ATV provided false identification information and refused to comply with officers. After a brief altercation with officers, the man was arrested. No serious injuries were sustained during the arrest and all involved received medical assessment.

Upon arrest, officers located and seized:

approximately 25 grams of cocaine, divided into 25 packages

180 grams of methamphetamine

68 tablets of codeine

3 cellular phones

a large sum of Canadian currency

1 count, Personate with Intent to Avoid Arrest, Section 403, Criminal Code

1 count, Assault a Peace Officer, Section 270(2), Criminal Code

2 counts, Fail to Comply with Release Order, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code

1 count, Operate a Conveyance while Prohibited, Section 320.18(1)(b), Criminal Code

Philip Heathen made his first court appearance via telephone in Lloydminster, SK Provincial Court on Tuesday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m.
