Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit investigation leads to stolen vehicle and drug seizure

Grande Prairie, Alberta – Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit conduct investigation into residence after receiving complaints of suspicious activity from Riverstone South area residents.

On Nov. 17, 2021, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit observed a truck parked near a residence in the Riverstone South area in Grande Prairie, Alta. Preliminary investigation revealed that the truck had been reported stolen out of Mannville, Alta. and was associated to a nearby residence.

Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with assistance from Grande Prairie RCMP officer, executed a search warrant at the residence in the area of Riverstone South. The search resulted in the seizure of items related to the stolen truck and a search of the truck resulted in the seizure of approximately 23.14 grams of suspected methamphetamine and items consistent with drug trafficking.

Steven Kirk Gable (44) of Grande Prairie and Cory John Zeller (34), of Saddle Hills County, Alta. have been charged with:

· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

· Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine

Steven Gable faces an additional charge of:

· Fraudulent concealment

Cory Zeller faces an additional charge of:

· Fail to comply with release order

· Fail to comply with undertaking

Cory Zeller was also wanted on several outstanding warrants on unrelated matters.

Following a judicial hearing, Steven Gable was released from custody on a release order and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Dec. 22, 2021. Corey Zeller was remanded into police custody and is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Dec. 22, 2021.
