Additional victims sought in ongoing sexual assault investigation in Saskatchewan

Loon Lake, Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – On September 21, 2021, the Saskatoon Police Sex Crimes Unit issued a media release (English only) announcing a charge of sexual assault against Cecil Wolfe. Investigators were concerned there may be other victims and asked anyone with information to contact police.

As a result of further victims coming forward since September, Saskatoon RCMP General Investigation Section collaborated with SPS Sex Crimes Unit as offences are reported to have occurred in Saskatchewan RCMP jurisdiction.

Victims reported Cecil Wolfe was working under the pretext of being a traditional healer or medicine man when they encountered him.

Cecil Wolfe is charged with six additional counts of sexual assault, section 271 of the Criminal Code. One charge is laid from Saskatoon Police jurisdiction and five are laid from Saskatchewan RCMP jurisdiction from the communities of Loon Lake and Muskeg Lake Cree Nation.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims from over the past twenty years in the communities of Loon Lake, Blaine Lake, Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Saskatoon and surrounding areas. The investigation remains active and victims are encouraged to contact their nearest RCMP Detachment or Police Service if they have information to share.

Cecil Wolfe was released on a court undertaking after his arrest on Wednesday December 8, 2021. He will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on January 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
