Grande Prairie ALERT CFSEU arrest and charge two for weapons offences

Grande Prairie, Alberta – Grande Prairie Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) Combined Enforcement Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) began a weapons trafficking investigation in Dec. 2021, that has resulted in arrests and charges.

On Dec. 8, 2021, Grande Prairie ALERT CFSEU obtained a search warrant for a residence that was executed in the City of Grande Prairie, with the assistance of the Grande Prairie RCMP and the Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Service. The following items were seized from the search of the residence: Two handguns and magazines, a semi-automatic rifle, prohibited magazines, a prohibited shotgun, and various shotgun and rifle ammunition.

Chace Coady (26), of Grande Prairie is charged with:

· Possession of a firearm in an unauthorized place (x2)

· Weapons trafficking (x4)

Matthew Joseph Hollis (29), of Grande Prairie is charged with:

· Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x4)

· Possession of a prohibited device (x2)

· Possession of a loaded prohibited weapon

· Unsafe storage of a firearm

Coady was released to attend Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Feb. 28, 2022. Hollis was released to attend Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Feb. 22, 2022.
