Airdrie RCMP investigate vehicle collision south bound on Highway 2 – UPDATED

Rocky View County, Alberta – Airdrie RCMP advise traffic flow southbound along Hwy 2 has resumed, with all lanes operational.

Airdrie RCMP continued to advise motorists to drive with caution due to changing temperatures. Thank you for your patience during this traffic disruption.

BACKGROUND

Rocky View County, Alberta – (3:22 PM)  On Dec. 28, 2021, at 2:10 p.m., Airdrie RCMP, along with Fire Services and EMS, responded to a 911 call of a serious collision between a vehicle and the guard rail on Highway 2 south, travelling into Airdrie.

This collision investigation is in the preliminary stages and details are limited; however, it is known that two of the three south bound lanes of travel are closed as a result of this collision and vehicle travel is delayed. Further information will be provided when it is available.

Airdrie RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area. Traffic is being diverted to one lane south bound, and this is expected to continue for several hours while this collision is investigated.
