Red Deer RCMP lay charges as result of murder investigation; “RCMP responded to a homicide at an apartment on 55 Street in Red Deer”

Red Deer, Alberta – On Dec. 29, 2021, Red Deer RCMP responded to a homicide at an apartment on 55 Street in Red Deer.

Upon arrival, police located a deceased 66 year old Red Deer resident. Benjamin William Rabbit (27) of Red Deer was immediately taken into police custody and brought back to the Red Deer detachment. Rabbit and the deceased were known to each other.

As a result of further investigation into the incident by the RCMP Major Crimes Unit, Benjamin Rabbit has been charged with:

· Second Degree Murder

2nd Degree Homicide

Rabbit has been remanded in custody with his next court appearance scheduled for Jan. 4, 2022, in Red Deer Provincial Court, via CCTV.
