Parkland County, Alberta – On Mar. 20, 2021, Parkland RCMP received a report of a victim who was found seriously injured on a rural roadway in Parkland County. Preliminary investigation revealed that the 39-year-old female had been kidnapped from Alexander First Nation prior to being assaulted.
The victim’s injuries were life-threatening and she was transported to the hospital via ambulance. She has since been released and is recovering.
Subsequent to a lengthy investigation, Parkland RCMP have arrested:
· Shayla Louise Rattlesnake (32) of Edmonton
· Jason Tyler Bruno (24) of Edmonton
· Venessia Katelynn Cardinal (28) of Edmonton
All three suspects are currently in custody and have been jointly charged with:
· Aggravated assault
· Kidnapping
· Forcible confinement.
Venessia Cardinal is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing on Jan. 12, 2022 in Stony Plain . Shayla Rattlesnake and Jason Bruno are scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 19, 2022 in Stony Plain.
As these matters are now before the courts, we do not anticipate any further updates.
