Additional arrests made in death of Darrin Cross: Edmonton Police

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service has arrested and charged two more suspects in connection to the 2020 death of Darrin Dean Cross.

At approximately 4:45 a.m. on Nov. 11, 2020, while responding to a weapons complaint, Northwest Division patrol members found Darrin Dean Cross, 37, deceased inside a residence near 120 Avenue and 102 Street.

A Nov. 13, 2020 autopsy by the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined Cross died of a gunshot wound, and the manner of death was homicide.

Catherine Nichole Willier, 41, was taken into custody last night, Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022. She has since been charged with manslaughter with a firearm and robbery with a firearm.

On Dec. 14, 2021, James Whyte, 54, was arrested and charged with manslaughter with a firearm and robbery with a firearm.

On Dec. 2, 2021, following a lengthy investigation, Homicide Section investigators arrested and charged Sheldon Blyan, 45 with manslaughter with a firearm, robbery with a firearm, and additional firearms charges.

Homicide investigators believe there may still be additional suspects outstanding. BACKGROUND

Edmonton, Alberta – An autopsy held Friday by the Edmonton Medical Examiner has determined that Darrin Dean Cross, 37, of Edmonton, died as a result of a gunshot wound, and the manner of death was homicide.

Northwest Division patrol members found Cross deceased inside a residence near 120 Avenue and 102 Street, at approximately 4:45 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, after responding to a weapons complaint.

Homicide Section investigators are now seeking dashcam video from motorists, including taxi drivers that may have been travelling through the area between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Residents living in the area are also asked to check doorbell cameras for surveillance images that may help police advance the investigation.
