Two charged in connection with unlawful confinement and aggravated assault: Saskatoon

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – The Saskatoon Police Service Serious Assault Unit has charged two people in connection with an unlawful confinement and aggravated assault that occurred between January 6, 2022 and January 10, 2022.

On January 10, 2022, at around 6:45 a.m., Police were called to the 3200 block of Preston Avenue South by Paramedics with Medavie Health Services West. Paramedics reported a woman with injuries consistent with an assault. Investigating officers then learned the woman had reportedly been held in the basement of a house, against her will, since January 6, 2022.

Police, including members of the Tactical Support and Guns and Gangs Units, were directed to a home in the 200 block of Avenue L North. Three people eventually exited the home, while a 27-year-old man remained inside. At approximately 7:45 p.m., with assistance from the Canine Unit, he was taken into custody. Police also seized a stolen truck at the home.

A 27-year-old man and a 26-year-old man face charges of Unlawful Confinement, Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats of Death (x2), and Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000.
