Calgary Police investigate suspicious death in Thorncliffe

Calgary, Alberta – Our Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the death of a man who was found inside a northwest garage over the weekend. While detectives await further medical tests and results, the death is being considered undetermined.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, we were called to the 6100 block of Thornaby Way N.W., for a report that a 26-year-old man was found deceased in a detached garage.

An autopsy was conducted this morning, Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, by The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, however, further medical testing is required to determine both the cause and manner of death. As such, the man’s identity will not be publicly released at this time, however, investigators have been in contact with the victim’s family.

Our investigators have pieced together the events leading up to the man’s death, and it is believed that he had been in the garage for several days prior to the discovery of his body. The homeowners who found the man are not connected to his death and he is unknown to them.

BACKGROUND

Calgary, Alberta – Our Homicide Unit is investigating the suspicious death of a man, believed to be in his late twenties or early thirties, in the community of Thorncliffe.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., today, Jan. 15, 2022, we were called to the 6100 block of Thornaby Way N.W., for a report of a suspicious death. Upon arrival, officers located a man deceased in a detached garage.

The deceased male is not known to the occupants of the residence and we continue to investigate the events that lead up to his death.

Our investigators are working to identify the man and notify next of kin. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 17, at 9 a.m.
