Port Alberni, BC – On January 19, 2022, a charge of 2nd degree murder was sworn against a 16 year old male for the murder of Clifton Johnston that occurred on March 27, 2021 on 4th Avenue in Port Alberni. An arrest warrant was issued.
On January 20, 2022, Port Alberni RCMP members arrested the male; his identity cannot be provided due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Investigators have been working on this investigation continuously for nearly 10 months, awaiting Forensic Laboratory results and completing the significant disclosure these investigations require for charge approval. The investigation continues.

RCMP investigate suspicious death in Port Alberni

Port Alberni RCMP are investigating the suspicious death of a man found deceased.
On March 27, 2021 at 7:20am Port Alberni RCMP responded to a call to assist EHS. EHS and Police responded to the 3500 block of 4th Ave Port Alberni and located a deceased man on the sidewalk. The man is believed to be in his twenties. The death is being treated as suspicious and the police are investigating.
The BC Coroners Service has been notified and are also investigating.
