AMBER ALERT UPDATE: Hawkin Gerald THOMAS has been located safe – CONCLUDED

Calgary, Alberta – (10:05 pm)  The AMBER Alert issued by the Calgary Police Service on January 27, 2022 is now cancelled. The child in question is safe. Calgary Police thank the public for their assistance in this matter.


Calgary, Alberta – An AMBER Alert has been issued after two-year-old Hawkin Gerald THOMAS was abducted by his mother earlier this afternoon from the Inglewood area.

Hawkin was abducted today, Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at approximately 2:30 p.m., following a supervised visitation with his mother, Tamara Jean VANDERJAGT, 40, which occurred in the 1900 block of 9 Avenue S.E.

Multiple resources have been searching the city, however, have not been able to locate Hawkin or his mother, and we are concerned for his welfare.

Hawkin THOMAS is described as White, with long blond hair, and was last seen wearing a red sweater, green boots and dark camouflage sweatpants.

Tamara VANDERJAGT is described as White, 5’4” tall, with a slim build, short bright red hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie and red pants.


Tamara is believed to be travelling in a brown 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander, with Alberta licence plate NLY 991, and was last seen westbound on 9 Avenue S.E., going past Blackfoot Trail.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Calgary Police Service by dialing 9-1-1.

AMBER Alerts are issued to the public when a child or adult, with a proven mental or physical disability, is abducted and at risk of harm. Police must meet strict criteria when issuing an AMBER Alert. More information can be found here.
