Two people charged with attempted murder in connection with shooting in Moncton, N.B.

Moncton, New Brunswick – The Codiac Regional RCMP has arrested three individuals in connection with a shooting incident in Moncton, N.B.

On January 27, 2022, at approximately 1:40 a.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to reports of shots fired on Robinson Street, in Moncton. When police arrived on scene, they found that a 47-year-old man was suffering from a gunshot wound and a suspect vehicle had fled the scene. Police pursued the suspect vehicle, which rammed one of the police cars and then continued westbound on Mountain Road. The suspect vehicle lost control and collided with a snow bank. The three passengers in the vehicle were arrested without incident. Police believe it was an isolated incident, and it did not meet the criteria for an Alert Ready message.

The victim was transported to the hospital with what are believed to be serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Skylar Surette, a 30-year-old man from Yarmouth, N.S., appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on January 27 by way of tele-remand. He was charged with attempted murder. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on February 11, 2022, for a bail hearing.

Alysha Randell, a 29-year-old woman from Moncton, N.B., also appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on January 27 by way of tele-remand. She was charged with attempted murder. She was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on January 31, 2022, for a bail hearing.

A third suspect, a 22-year-old man from Moncton, N.B., was also arrested in connection with the investigation and remains in custody on an unrelated matter.

The investigation is ongoing.
