Maskwacis RCMP investigate attempted murder, warn public; “do not approach as Jesse Cabry is believed to be armed and dangerous” – UPDATED

Maskwacis, Alberta – Maskwacis RCMP are continuing the ongoing attempted murder investigation of a 17-year-old male that occurred during the early morning hours of March 2, 2022 on the Samson Cree Nation.

Maskwacis RCMP can report that on Wednesday, March 9 2022, Jesse Cabry was arrested without incident at a residence on the Ermineskin Cree Nation.

Cabry was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. Cabry is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Tuesday, March 15 2022 at 9:30 a.m.

BACKGROUND

Maskwacis, Alberta – Maskwacis RCMP continue to investigate the attempted murder of a 17-year-old male that occurred during the early morning hours of March 2, 2022 on Samson Cree Nation.

Maskwacis RCMP have been unable to locate Jesse James Cabry (29) of Maskwacis and a warrant for his arrest has been obtained for the following charges:

Attempted murder while using a firearm

Pointing a firearm

Jesse Cabry is described as follows:

Medium complexion

Long brown hair

Brown eyes

6’1” tall

170 lbs

Slender build

If located, the public are advised not to approach as Jesse Cabry is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Maskwacis RCMP continue to investigate this incident and efforts to locate Cabry continue.

BACKGROUND

Maskwacis, Alberta – On Mar. 2, 2022, at 2:30 a.m., RCMP responded to a shots fired complaint in the Samson Cree Nation Town Site. Responding members located a 17-year-old male who had been shot. The victim was rushed to hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries. The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Jesse Cabry of Maskwacis. Attempts to arrest Jesse Cabry resulted with the K Division Emergency Response Team being deployed to the area, however, Jesse Cabry was not located.

RCMP are currently seeking a warrant for the arrest of Jesse Cabry and charges of Attempted Murder are pending. Jesse Cabry is known to frequent Maskwacis and is described as follows:

· indigenous male

· long brown hair

· brown eyes

· 6’1” tall

· 170 pounds

· slender build

If located, do not approach as Jesse Cabry is believed to be armed and dangerous.
