Red Deer RCMP respond to altercation at Red Deer high school

Red Deer, Alberta – Around 12:40 p.m. on March 17, 2022, Red Deer RCMP responded to an altercation involving a student at Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School.

Despite Administration’s repeated requests to leave the property, the youth refused to comply. It was at this time the Red Deer RCMP were called to assist. The attending officer located and spoke with the youth, but was also unable to gain their cooperation.

When the youth walked away from the officer, heading towards a different part of the school, the officer caught up with the student and affected an arrest without injury in front of other students. The youth was taken to an awaiting police vehicle, and was provided transport to their guardian.
