Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and Labrador – A 25-year-old Shearstown woman is set to attend court to answer to a number of charges following a rear-end motor vehicle collision on Monday that sent two people to hospital.
Shortly after 11:30 a.m. on March 28, 2022, Bay Roberts RCMP, along with Emergency Medical Services and the Bay Roberts Fire Department, responded to a collision on Lt. Stick Drive involving three vehicles. The operator of a white Chevrolet Equinox had stopped in the road waiting to make a left hand turn, while the driver of a second vehicle, a white Chevrolet Trax, slowed to a stop behind it. The driver of the third vehicle, a grey Chevrolet Equinox, failed to stop and rear-ended the Trax, causing a chain reaction rear-end collision involving all three vehicles.
The driver of the white Chevrolet Trax and the grey Chevrolet Equinox were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Shearstown woman, who was driving the grey Chevrolet Equinox, was suspended from driving and was operating an uninsured vehicle. This incident was the third such time police found the woman operating a vehicle without insurance and committing other traffic violations within the last 18 months. Instead of issuing further tickets, the woman was compelled to court. She faces charges under the Highway Traffic Act of driving without due care and attention, driving while suspended and operating a vehicle without insurance.
The investigation is continuing.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to police is asked to contact Bay Roberts RCMP at 709-786-2118.
