Lethbridge Police charge man and seize drugs, firearm and cash following investigation

Lethbridge, Alberta – The Lethbridge Police Service Crime Suppression Team (CST) charged a man with multiple offences and seized drugs, a firearm and cash Wednesday.

Members of the CST concluded a short-term investigation into drug trafficking in various downtown locations frequented by the vulnerable population. After observing activity consistent with drug trafficking, one man was arrested without incident on March 30, 2022 and a search warrant was executed at a home in the 500 block of 12 Street North.

Seized was a firearm, more than $24,000 in cash and drugs valued at more than $5,200 including 41.44 grams of methamphetamine, 13.4 grams of fentanyl and smaller amounts of cocaine and codeine pills. Also seized was suspected stolen property.

Robert Joseph Zimmer, 47, of Lethbridge, has been charged with: two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking; two counts of possession of a controlled substance; possession of property obtained by crime (over $5,000); possession of an identity document; possession of a firearm obtained by crime; unauthorized possession of a firearm; careless storage of a firearm; and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending.

Zimmer was released following a Judicial Interim Release hearing with a scheduled court appearance on April 21, 2022.
