Maskwacis RCMP seeking the public’s assistance in locating male wanted for attempted murder – ARRESTED

Maskwacis, Alberta – On Tuesday, April 5th 2022, Deschamps attended the Edmonton Police Service Downtown Division building and turned himself in on the outstanding arrest warrant. Deschamps was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court at a later date. The Maskwacis RCMP would like to thank the Edmonton Police Service and the public for their assistance.

BACKGROUND

Maskwacis, Alberta – On Saturday, February 26 2022, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP were dispatched to a local area hospital, for two males that were dropped off suffering from gun shot wounds. It was quickly learned that the shooting had taken place out on the Louis Bull Tribe, in Maskwacis.

The Maskwacis General Investigation Section (GIS) took carriage of the investigation, and identified two suspects leading to charges against both. On Friday, March 11 2022, Kashton Bull, a 22-year-old male from the Louis Bull Tribe was arrested and charged with the following criminal code offences:

· Attempted murder (X2)

· Discharge of a firearm while being reckless

· Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized

· Breach of a firearms prohibition

· Fail to comply with a release order (X4)

Bull was remanded into custody after a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on Thursday, March 31 2022 at 9:30 a.m.

The second suspect in the shooting was identified as Christian Deschamps, an 18-year-old male from the Ermineskin Cree Nation. Deschamps is wanted for the following offences:

· Attempted murder (X2)

· Discharge of a firearm while being reckless

· Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized

Deschamps is described as the following:

· Indigenous male

· 5’1 (154 cm)

· 132lbs (59 kg)

· Brown hair

· Brown eyes

Deschamps is believed to be in the Maskwacis area, but is also known to frequent the City of Wetaskiwin and the Town of Ponoka.
