St. Albert RCMP Investigate Sexual Exploitation Involving Teacher, 28-year-old Edmonton man charged

St. Albert, Alberta – As a result of the request to the public for additional victims to come forward, St. Albert RCMP have identified an additional victim. Bryce Hughes of Edmonton has been additionally charged with the following offences on June 14, 2022:

· Sexual Exploitation

· Luring a Child

Hughes has been released from police custody with conditions and is set to appear in court for these charges on June 20, 2022. As these matters are now before the courts, no further details surrounding these charges can be provided.

St. Albert RCMP continue to believe there may be additional victims and encourage those individuals to come forward.

BACKGROUND

March 31, 2022

St. Albert, Alberta – On February 23, 2022, the St. Albert RCMP began a historical Sexual Exploitation investigation. RCMP received information that a minor had been sexually exploited by a teacher. An investigation was conducted by the St. Albert RCMP resulting in a 28 year old male, Bryce Hughes of Edmonton, being charged with the following offences:

· Sexual Exploitation

· Agree or arrange a sexual offence against a child

· Making sexually explicit material available to a child

· Making child pornography

· Possession of child pornography

Hughes has been released from police custody with conditions and is set to appear in court on April 25, 2022. As these matters are now before the courts, no further details surrounding these charges can be provided.

St. Albert Victim Services Unit has been engaged to assist and have reached out to the victim.
