RCMP NL confirms death of two individuals in double shooting in Harris Point

Carmanville, Newfoundland and Labrador – RCMP NL confirms that the two people involved in the double shooting inside a Harris Point residence, a man in his thirties and a woman in her twenties, have both died.

The investigation by the RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services, as well as the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, is continuing. There is no current threat to the public.

RCMP NL investigates a double shooting in Harris Point

Carmanville, Newfoundland and Labrador – RCMP NL is investigating a double shooting that took place inside a Harris Point residence.

Shortly after midnight today, Gander RCMP received the report indicating that a man and a woman were injured from gun shot wounds. Both were transported to hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services, as well as the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, have been engaged. The residence is currently being held for the purpose of the investigation. Police advise there is no current risk to public safety. Residents of the community can expect to see an increased police presence over the coming days as officers continue with the investigation.
