Sketch released, West Shore RCMP looking to identify Sexual Assault suspect

West Shore, BC – West Shore RCMP is seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect after receiving two reports of a youth being sexually assaulted in Colwood.

Two youth victims reported similar circumstances in separate incidents where a man in the 1900 Block of Sooke Road approached them and asked for directions. While the man was engaging with the victim, he was subtly groping them.

The first incident happened on January 27, 2022, just after 4:00 p.m. The second incident happened on March 24, 2022, just before 10:00 p.m. near a bus stop and the victim reports the suspect left when another male approached.

The suspect is described as:

– dark skinned

– male

– thick accent

– 5 ft 5 in – 5 ft 8 in

– mid 40-50 years old

– slim to medium build

– thick black eyebrows and sideburns

– at the time of the incident on March 24, 2022 he was wearing a red and white baseball cap with cursive writing, green jacket and dark hood pulled up.

West Shore RCMP is actively investigating the reports of sexual assault and enlisted the services of a Forensic Sketch Artist.

If you were the man approaching the bus stop in the 1900 Block of Sooke Road and recognize these details, please call the West Shore RCMP, says Cst Meghan Groulx, spokesperson for the West Shore RCMP.

Anyone with information, dash cam footage, surveillance or who recognizes the suspect is asked to please call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264, or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
