UPDATE: Charges laid in southwest Edmonton homicide

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service has charged three people in relation to the homicide of 41-year-old Curtis Vidal.

Ricardo Gomez-Jimenez, 27, was charged with first degree murder, use of a firearm while committing an offence, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of stolen property over $5000 and breach of condition of a release order (x2).

Colin Penner, 27, was charged with first degree murder, possession of stolen property over $5000 and arson.

Jyostna Reddy, 24, was charged with accessory to murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Penner’s next court appearance is scheduled for April 27, 2022, while Gomez-Jimenez is scheduled for April 28, 2022 and Reddy is scheduled for April 29, 2022.

Police are not looking for any additional suspects.

BACKGROUND

At approximately 9:13 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2022, Southwest Branch patrol members responded to the report of an injured male at a residence in the area of Erasmus Wynd and Erasmus Crescent.

Upon arrival, police discovered 41-year-old male deceased in a front attached garage at that location.

On Thursday, April 14, 2022, an autopsy completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined that Vidal died of multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of death was deemed homicide.
