Redcliff, Alberta – On May 11, 2022, Alberta Traffic Unit Redcliff officers initiated a traffic stop and arrested and charged the two occupants of the vehicle. Incidental to arrest, a search of the vehicle lead to a variety of weapons being seized. Two people were charged with numerous weapons offences.
It has been determined that the male arrested provided a false name to officers.
Dexter Louis Showers (31) of Medicine Hat, Alta., has been charged with 20 offences, some of which include:
· Identity fraud
· Obstruct a Peace Officer
· Unauthorized possession of a firearm
· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

RCMP are seeking public assistance in locating Dexter Showers. There are numerous warrants for his arrest. Showers should not be approached as he may be dangerous.
Showers is described as:
· Blond hair and blue eyes
· Approximately 5’10 and 154 lbs

BACKGROUND
Brooks, Alberta – On May 11, 2022, Brooks RCMP received a complaint of an impaired driver on Highway 1 near Brooks. Alberta Traffic Unit Redcliff officers located the vehicle near Bassano and initiated a traffic stop. Upon approach, the driver provided a false name and was arrested.
A search of the vehicle incidental to arrest lead to the discovery of the following:
· .22 sawed off rifle loaded with a full magazine and a chambered round
· .22 ammunition
· 12 gauge sawed off shotgun loaded with a full magazine and a chambered round
· 12 gauge ammunition
· Stun gun
· Large hunting knife
· Various types of drug paraphernalia.


Cecily Rae Mather (27) of Cypress County, Alta., has been charged with:
· Weapons offences (x9)
· Failing to comply with release conditions (x2)
· Obstruction
· Offences under the Traffic Safety Act
Mather has been remanded into custody and will appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on May 13, 2022.
