Fort Saskatchewan RCMP seeking witnesses following altercation; “male stumbling into traffic”

Sturgeon County, Alberta – On May 16, 2022, shortly before 5:00 pm, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP received a report of a male stumbling into traffic while crossing a bridge on Highway 15 near Fort Saskatchewan.

A member of the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP located the male walking on the side of the highway. The male refused to identify himself and then became verbally and physically confrontational. A physical altercation ensued, resulting in minor injuries to the police officer. With the assistance of another police officer and a passerby who stopped to assist, the adult male was taken into custody.

Dakota John Noel (22) of Sylvan Lake, has been charged with assaulting a police officer and obstructing a police officer. Noel was also arrested on outstanding warrants from Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer.

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, Noel was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court on May 19, 2022.
