Maskwacis RCMP requesting the public’s assistance after Samson Townsite shooting

Maskwacis, Alberta – On Wednesday, May 18th 2022, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Maskwacis RCMP were dispatched to the Enclaves, an area in the Townsite on the Samson Cree Nation for a female who had been shot. It was learned the suspect fled the area prior to police arriving. The victim was treated on scene, and taken to local area hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. No other persons were injured.

Members of the Maskwacis RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) took carriage of the investigation and are requesting the public’s assistance for information related to the shooting. Maskwacis GIS are asking residents, particularly that were in the Enclaves on the Samson Townsite area on Wednesday, May 18th 2022, between 10:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., to report any suspicious activity they may have seen. Police are also requesting anyone who lives in the area to check any video doorbell cameras or surveillance cameras.
