Fort MacLeod RCMP responding to train derailment near Fort MacLeod; “Highway 3 is being re-routed to allow crews to work”

Fort MacLeod, Alberta – (11:26 AM) On May 22, 2022, at 8:15 a.m., Fort MacLeod RCMP responded to a train derailment near Highway 3, between Range Road 251 and Range Road 252 near Fort MacLeod, Alberta.

Fire has also responded.

The train which was westbound is reported to have derailed approximately 43 cars carrying potash.

There are no injuries reported or concerns to public safety. CP Rail has responded.

Traffic on Highway 3 is being re-routed to allow crews to work and is expected to last several hours.

Westbound traffic is being diverted onto the shoulder of Highway 3.

The public is asked to avoid the area of the derailment.

An update will be provided once traffic flow has resumed on Highway 3.
