Woman succumbs to injuries after vehicle collides with tree in Winnipeg, driver flees the scene

Winnipeg, Manitoba – On May 30, 2022, at approximately 12:45 a.m., a police unit attempted a traffic stop in the Deer Lodge neighbourhood. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and fled the area.

Officers subsequently located the vehicle in the 400 block of Truro Street, where it had collided with a tree. The vehicle’s three occupants were transported to hospital (the adult male driver and a teenage passenger were transported in unstable condition). The adult female passenger was transported to hospital in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) of Manitoba was notified and assumed responsibility for investigating this fatal motor vehicle collision.
