Yorkton, Saskatchewan man arrested for Child Luring on popular social media application

Yorkton, Saskatchewan – The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit has charged a Yorkton man with Luring a Child in relation to an investigation through a popular online social media application. On June 2, 2022, members of the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Yorkton that was identified as the location where the offences were occurring. Several electronic devices were seized for further forensic analysis.

On June 2, 2022, Mitchell Paul Carpenter, age 26, from Yorkton was arrested and has been charged with;

Luring a Child – Section 172.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

He was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released on numerous conditions.

The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the internet.
