Redcliff and Bow Island RCMP warn commercial businesses of increased property crime and theft

Cypress County, Alberta – Redcliff and Bow Island RCMP are alerting commercial business owners of an increase in property crime in the Cypress and Forty Mile County areas.

Both Redcliff and Bow Island RCMP detachments have received an increase in reports of overnight break and enters resulting in theft of vehicles, fuel, and tools from commercial business sites in rural areas.

Since June 18, 2022, RCMP have had four vehicle thefts from commercial business sites and reports of fuel and tool thefts. RCMP have recovered three of the four stolen vehicles however, no arrests have been made at this time.

Additional resources have been deployed and RCMP are working to apprehend the individuals responsible for this increase in property crime. RCMP is requesting residents and commercial business owners report any criminal or suspicious activity to police right away as these reports tells us where to look, who to look for, and where to patrol.

Attention should be given to unfamiliar people or vehicles in rural commercial business areas, especially at night.
