Regina Attempted Murder Case now a Homicide; “Regina’s 4th homicide of 2022”

Regina, Saskatchewan – A 30 year-old Regina woman, who was the victim of a recent attempted murder, has passed away from her injuries. As a result, there have been changes to the charges faced by two individuals already charged in this case. The case is now a homicide investigation. This is Regina’s 4th homicide in 2022.

The victim is 30 year-old Lori Shannon HUNTINGHAWK, of Regina. The Regina Police Service Victims Services Unit is in contact with her family to offer support and updates on the investigation.

This investigation began on May 23, 2022. At approximately 2:00 a.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a report of a seriously injured female in the 1200 block of Garnet Street. The female victim was taken to hospital by EMS. Investigation into this case, led by the Major Crimes Unit, resulted in the arrest of two suspects and multiple charges. The original charges included Aggravated Assault and Attempted Murder. The victim’s death in hospital on June 6th resulted in the Crown withdrawing the original charges, replacing them with the following:

Twenty-four year-old Tegan Lestat LAPLANTE, of Regina, is charged with First Degree Murder [235(1) CC]. Thirty-four year-old Ashley REMPEL, of Regina, is charged with First Degree Murder [235(1) CC].

Both LAPLANTE and REMPEL made their first court appearance on the new charges in Provincial Court at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022.
