Red Deer RCMP arrest repeat offender after multiple property crime investigations; “RCMP laid more than 15 Criminal Code charges”

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP arrested and charged 35-year-old Zacharias Paradoski in relation to a string of break and enter and stolen vehicle incidents. RCMP laid more than 15 Criminal Code charges in relation to the incidents.

Paradoski was first connected to a string of break and enters the morning of March 21, 2022. Between 2:30 and 5:30 a.m., six properties were broken into in southeast Red Deer. Surveillance footage saw the suspect using a Ford F350 pickup truck which had been reported as stolen.

On March 22, Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a multi-family residential building in Cosgrove Crescent. Once on scene, officers identified the same Ford F350 from the night before. In the truck, officers found stolen property from the events the day prior. Officers arrested Paradoski on scene for breaking and entering, as well as possession of stolen property. Paradoski was released pending completion of the investigation, and warrants were later issued for his arrest.

On June 3, Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in an underground parkade. Surveillance footage showed a grey Ford EcoSport had been abandoned in the parkade by a male suspect who was later identified as Paradoski. The vehicle was stolen out of Lacombe and was affixed with a stolen licence plate from Rocky Mountain House.

On June 16, 2022, Rimbey RCMP responded to a report of multiple vehicles stolen from the business. RCMP investigation has connected Paradoski to this incident.

On June 21, Red Deer RCMP observed Paradoski in a stolen vehicle heading to Red Deer. With assistance from K-Division’s Air Services, Emergency Response teams, Red Deer’s Police Dog Services, GIS, CRT and General Duty teams, police conducted surveillance on Paradoski to a known residence in Red Deer, where he was apprehended after attempting to flee on foot.

Stemming from these events, Paradoski has been charged with:

· Breaking and entering with intent (x4)

· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (x4)

· Possession of property obtained by crime not more than $5,000 (x3)

· Mischief

· Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition

· Operation while prohibited

· Resisting an officer

· Unauthorized possession of a firearm

· Careless use of a firearm

· Possession of a firearm contrary to order

Paradoski is remanded and is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on July 7, 2022.
